| 1 | 110-S | Basic Theory in Systems Energetics I | 14 |
This foundation lecture introduces the primordial energetic core, known as an octet, classically called anterior heaven. The lecture introduces the principles that lead to the orderly apparition of the triplet, or trigrams, and highlights the concepts of the six dimensions, known classically as taiyang, yangming, shaoyang, taiyin, shaoyin and jueyin. Archetypal values of the dimensions (physiology and pathology) are introduced.
| 2 | 115-S | Basic Theory in Systems Energetics II | 14 |
This lectures builds on the previous one, briefly introduces the notion of structure, known as posterior heaven. The lecture then builds on the notion of interactions and on the emergence of the pentasymmetry, also known as the five phases (wu shu). The physiological meaning of the five phases, their nodes, and the logical attributions of the six dimensions to these nodes is covered. The second part of the lecture introduces the energetic concepts underlying what is known as the sanjiao or triple heater.
| 3 | 120-S | Basic Theory in Systems Energetics III | 7 |
This lecture introduces the basic regulatory and homeostatic systems that permit Life through the regulation of the six dimensions within the octet (anterior heaven, posterior heaven), the pentasymmetry (five phases), and the fundamental regulator (sanjiao). The basic notions of octal and pentasymmetrical triangulations are covered.
| 4 | 130-S | Theory of the meridians | 7 |
Introduction of the network concepts of the meridians. Extension of their understanding through results of fundamental research such as modulation of meridian polarities through logical needling and stimulation.
| 5 | 150-S | Theory of Program Signals (extraordinary meridians) | $280 |
Physiological systems not only need inter-systems regulations, or biofeedback loops (five phases), but they necessitate systemic wide inter-system coordination to function. This lecture introduces the inter-coordinating functions of what one may call program signals (extraordinary meridians). The logic of their structures, and the nature of their key points is provided, as well as the introduction of the 'middle points' that enhance their overall actions. Fundamental treatments approaches are provided. 14 PDAs
| 6 | 160-S | Integrating the Concepts I | 14 |
Through this lecture, the various physiological models are integrated into a first coherent view of energetic physiology and pathology. Additional meaning and treatment strategies of the six dimensions are covered, as well as a further integrative understanding of the primordial octet and the pentasymmetry.
| 7 | 180-S | Learning the tools of the Crafts Acupuncture and Electrostimulation | 14 |
The only therapeutic interface and modulating factor between the practitioner and his or her patient is the needle. This lecture introduces the physics of the needle, providing rational understanding of its functioning, and thus permitting therapeutic enhancement. The lecture then approaches basic concepts in electrostimulation, covering the important notion of polarities (i.e., where does the red alligator clip goes), and modulating parameters (frequency and intensity). Examples of therapeutic circuit designs are provided.
| 7 | 190-S | Brain Circulation - Integrating the Concepts II | 14 |
This lecture provides the premises of neuroendocrine acupuncture. Concepts of brain circulation are introduced, using the logic of deep circulation. Therapeutic approaches are provided. Knowledge of neuroanatomy and basic neuroendocrinology is a plus.
| 9 | 210-S | Chong Mai and the Pituitary-Thyroid-Adrenal axis | $140 |
This lecture introduces the various endocrine-immunological functions of chong mai, and its ability to modulate the Pituitary-Thyroid-Adrenal axis (PTA). Introduction to the cinnabar fields. Knowledge of the PTA axis is a plus. 7 PDAs
| 10 | 220-S | Five Phases Immunology | 7 |
This lecture introduces the various immunological functions as their relate to the five phases. Immunoglobulin identification to the nodes of 5P are provided, as well as pathological and therapeutic concepts. Preliminary review of immunoglobulins is a plus.
| 11 | 230-S | Clinical Management | 7 |
Oriental medicine excels in its preventive role. SEA concepts deepen the understanding of classical notions of invasion processes. Notion of trigram management (introduction to Yi Jing acupuncture) is provided, as well as notions of predictability.
| 12 | 240-S | Clinical Analytics I | 7 |
This workshop relies on the study of theoretical study cases to practice differentiation of various diseases according to the various physiological systems. Students will deepen their understanding of previous lectures and will be asked to participate in the analytics of the case, and the construction of the therapeutic program. Volunteer patients will be brought to class for case discussion.
